When Tess hunts for a toadstool from a fairy ring she never expects to meet the owners. When she notices out of place darts of brilliant color she races for home, not the least bit interested in meeting the residents of the Other realm. They follow her home and offer her the position of Guardian of the fairy demesne, which she promptly refuses.Somebody amongst the Others killed her parents and left Tess bound in a wheelchair for two years until Grandma uncovered her ability to Heal.
Trey, a fairy prince, arrives to present King Ral's offer to help her locate the creature that devastated her life and get revenge against it if she accepts the position of Guardian. She refuses him as well until Grandma, who raised her to be a witch, traveling the country to train with the best, encourages her to accept the offer. Tess gets sworn in and promptly finds herself off to slay harpies and fall in love with a prince.

The heroine was kind of a jerk the whole time. She had a really bad attitude throughout the story and there was a surprising amount of sex in the book. Other than that the story had some interesting moments and most of the characters were really likable. I wish the plot was a little better. It didn't have a build up for anything to happen in the end. Basically you're just reading a bunch of random events about a magical girl and her friends and nothing really hooks you in to find out what happens next. I think the writer tried to have a couple plot hooks with the heroin searching for her family's murderer but the tone about it felt really nonchalant. There was no sense of urgency in much of what was going on in the book. I didn't hate it but I can't say it was good either.Product details

Through The Waterfall 1 Guardian of the Realm edition by Sandra Elsa Romance eBooks Reviews
A good read kept my interest and she weaves mystery with fantasy. Looking forward to the next books with these characters.
The story started out very intriguing and then I couldn't read it because it was improbable to me. I could not suspend my belief enough to go along with the storyline so I did not finish it.
Not yet sure or decided yet. For some reason the story just didn't flow very much for me. It was a slow start and at times a little confusing on what was going on where. Not for under 18 due to sexual content for sure. I give it 2 stars due to the basis of a good story. ( so short version is girls parents get killed in car accident by creature, what creature?, not sure, just some creature from another fairy realm, grandma saves girl. Girl grows up and has magical music ability, girl meets hot fairy dude that she wants to be with all the time, girl goes to other realm to be a guardian where she battles creatures and learns more magic in hopes of one day killing the creature that took her parents)
Man that was fun to read! It's a love story than does not get to wrapped up in the love part. The female character kicks but and the male character loves her for it. Toss in some magic and a magical world and you have a great book!
This book was a very good start for me to follow this author. I started it, and couldn't hardly put it down. It is told from the view point of a 17 year old girl, but one that is mature enough to act like an adult, but still be young enough to be "innocent". The story is amusing and cute. A great book that mixes romance, intrigue, fantasy, and adventure without going overboard on any department. I will be reading all of the series.
I felt it was well written. I could actually see the the different hues of the hummingbirds.I was able to be Tess. Feeling the rivulets of pond water on my skin. The sweat from Nella's coat. I was Tess as Trey and I stepped through the waterfall. If you're looking for a really good read, where you can experience colors come to life and the magic of fairies, love and conquering the monsters under all our beds, then you HAVE to read this story. I laughed, I was sad and I was able to feel the love of family.
Interesting, intelligent characters, who are doing their best in a flawed world. Well told story. Many interesting themes like the problems of living with one foot in each world (everyday world and the world that is hidden for most people) and the balans in nature that has to be maintained and more like dealing with all the people that are ignoring that the king is a serial killer.
One small problem with this book is that the space between the lines is very wide(double), so that the number of pages that is given (271), is probably a bit too high.
The heroine was kind of a jerk the whole time. She had a really bad attitude throughout the story and there was a surprising amount of sex in the book.
